MARGÃO TILES.

Together with some other young designers, I was invited for a three-month intensive workshop to design new products for the porcelain brand VISTA ALEGRE and the crystal-glass manufacturer ATLANTIS in Portugal.

For the graphic composition of an under plate and a porcelain figure, I was inspired by the old Portuguese houses with their artistically decorated tiles which contribute to the charm of many Portuguese cities. The starting point was the typical „bulbous plant decor“, which I scaled up and then overlaid with a grid – like a tiled wall. As, with destroyed tiled walls, I also deleted some squares, creating an abstract picture of the original pattern.
