MELANGE.

PASSIONSWEGE project for VIENNA DESIGN WEEK 2017

MELANGE is a service consisting of a carafe, tumblers
and a tray. The project unites traditional coppersmith
techniques with contemporary design.
Defined grip areas with naturally aged copper interplay
with polished surfaces. The finely hammered objects invite
to be touched and influent the oxidation of the metal.

The PASSIONSWEGE project unite Viennese manufacturing
firms with international designers – an experience which
in this case literally welds them together.

With more than sixty years’ experience, the coppersmith
firm of Hegenbart has been the top address for all welding
works. No processing methods or materials are foreign to the
1953 established firm, which master coppersmith
ROMAN HEGENBART now heads in the fourth generation.

VIENNA DESIGN WEEK is Austria´s largest design festival, with a variety of locations and events in Vienna. The festival, curated by Lilli Hollein entered its 11th round this year. Opening up creative processes and giving scope for experimentation on site are core elements of the festival concept.
